CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Proper care prevents the leather from drying out and cracking, and it protects it from excessive moisture that can cause the skin to swell or mildew. This guide will provide you with tips to ensure your investment will last and you’ll have a soft, reliable leather handbag for years to come.
How do I take care of your piece
CLEANING
- When you notice dirt building up on your bag, ensure that you wipe it down with a cleaner made specially for leather use.
- Do not forget to clean the hardware on your bags so it doesn’t become dull and age the bag.
- Every couple of days, give your bag a quick wipe with a soft dry cloth which should not take more than a few minutes. It will go a long way towards the upkeep f your bag and allowing it to stay fresh and new-looking.
- This soft soap is applied using a circular motion and wiped off with a slightly damp cloth so as not to clog the pores of the fabric.
- Remove stains as soon as you notice them, organic stains from food or blood can often be removed with chalk powder crush white chalk, let it sit on the stain overnight and dust it off with a clean cloth
CONDITIONING
- Conditioning your bag is effectively moisturising but for your leather to prevent it from drying out over time. Leather, though durable, is not infallible and over time the material can flake and wrinkle. To stop that from happening, put a dab of conditioner on a soft cloth and gently wipe down the bag.
- Mink oil is a great supplement for the natural oils in leather. Rub it on, leave it for 10 minutes then wipe off the excess. Make sure you dry it properly in an airy room.
- Condition your month every single month to keep the leather looking its best.
STORAGE
- Make sure you hang on to the original dust bag that’s provided it’s there for a reason. When you’re not using it, put your handbag in the dust bag and fill it with stuffing. You can use parchment paper but do NOT use newspaper because the ink will smear. The paper helps the bag retain its original shape.
- Do not throw away your packaging. Keep your bag in the packaging it came with including those small white packets called silica gel which stop your bag from getting damp.
